Well, it finally happened! Taylor Swift got knocked out of the top spot on the chart this week. Not much else appears to have changed, though. Here's where some of your favorites stand in the top 10 Country Music CDs charts according to Billboard.
10) Kenny Chesney knocked Reba out of the top 10. Kinda funny, given he's been knocked out of her duet "Every Other Weekend".
9) Carrie Underwood's Some Hearts managed to stay in the top 10 again this week, even though it fell one spot. I'm telling you... there will be two things left after the apocolypse: roaches and Some Hearts.
8) Rascal Flatts also falls one spot this week with Still Feels Good.
7) Carrie's Carnival Ride, meanwhile, has dropped 2 spots to #7. Maybe her recent SNL appearance will shake things up.
6) Sugarland stays at #6 with Enjoy the Ride.
5) The Eagles too a pretty decent hit this week, getting knocked down from #2 last time.
4) Robert Plant and Alison Krauss stay at #4, probably thanks to their appearnce on Crossroads.
3) Garth stands at #3 again this week with Ultimate Hits.
2) Taylor Swift is runner up this week to a new release. Figures that's what it would take to knock her down a spot.
1) Chris Cagle's new CD My Life's Been A Country Song debuts at the top. Let's see if he can keep it up against some of the more persistant releases on the chart.
Well, that's about it for now. See y'all next time with more Country Music News and Reviews. Til then, take care!
LeAnn Rimes has a new video out for "Good Friend and a Glass of Wine". Check it out on CMT's website. If you're like me and have a hard time getting videos to play right online, keep an eye out. It'll probably be on CMT soon. From what I could see of it, it looks like it's a good one, although not quite a "Nothing Better to Do".
See ya later with more Country Music news and reviews! Til then, take care!
Nasville Star is changing more than their network next season. According to the official website, the contest is opening up to a wider variety of acts. They're auditioning soloists, duos and trios in various country styles. They've also lowered the age requirement. Should be interesting to see where this goes.
Nashville Star aired on USA for 5 seasons before this change. No word on when the new season is airing, but when it's released, I'll be sure to share. Also, look for recaps when the series starts airing.
Well, that's it for now. Check back next time for more news and reviews. Take care!
CMT is taking the family-friendly thing to the extreme. According to their website, this year's CMT awards is going to be hosted by Bill Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus. They're supposed to be performing too, along with Carrie Underwood, Sugarland, Brad Paisley and others. Check out CMT's story for more details and when the show will air. I know I'm ready for it!
Here's a friendly reminder for all you SHeDaisy fans out there: they're gonna be featured on "The Collection". For anyone who hasn't seen the series, artists show up and play their music videos and chat about them with host Storme Warren. His Faith Hill edition was one of my personal favorites, so let's see what they do! It premieres tomorrow at 9PM. Check their site description for additional airtimes.
If you didn't know, Dolly's new album came out today, along with a few others. I'm curious to see what she's come up with this time around after hearing "You Better Get to Livin'". Apparently, there's a couple of cover tunes on there as well. Go her! In other release news, Phil Vassar also has an official release date ofter several delays. Here's a little story about it from GAC.
Hey, Country Music fans!! How's it been going? I know- long time, no post. Unfortunately, I was sick for a few days and could not even get myself to sit up and write. But, I'm back and ready for action and I've got a bit of a bone to pick with you, CMT!
Gone Country. It's a great idea. For people who aren't Country Music fans, the chance to see several musicians put together a Country Music song and remake their image could be an interesting way to show the genre off. Too bad CMT didn't think so too.
The whole time I was watching the latest episode, I found myself asking "when are they going to sing already??" They've spent the whole time so far spitting watermelon seeds, shoveling poo and all kinds of other "Country" things, but there was only one time they were actually shown performing. When I saw the clips, I assumed we'd actually see some this time and boy was I wrong.
The spent the whole episode (except for a brief montage of three of em singing a line from their song and Julio mocking a horrible one they were trying to give him) picking out clothes and being interviewed. Has anyone every actually seen Country stars dress like that after the 1970s? John Rich is a bit out of touch, in my opinion, if he thinks those outfits are going to fly for a modern artist.
On the whole, I'll say Gone Country is an expiriment that failed horribly. Well, ya know, unless the goal was to turn people off the genre. Let's hope we see some great performances in that last episode and Diana wins it. Then, I think this show might have a shot at some redeption.
Carrie debuted on Saturday Night Live last March and now she's getting ready for another go at it! Be sure to check it out when it airs this Saturday. It's pretty much a given she'll do "All-American Girl", but who knows what the other song may be?
Ready to be confused? Check this out. According to Pulse Music Board, Reba's next single is going to be "Every Other Weekend", the duet she did with Kenny Chesney. Just don't expect to hear him on the radio. The version being released is with another singer. Why the change? No clue, but I'm against it.
Finally, Country Music Artists are at it again. Artists have invited fans to participate in making videos, voting for singles and other stuff before. Well, Dierks Bentley is taking it up a notch. Check out this thread on the Pulse Music Board for more details. Who knows? You just might see you name listed on the final product as an executive producer.
Well, that's all for now. Take care, Country Music fans. See y'all next time.
So, I was visiting a message board today and saw a like to People.com where you can actually get free downloads of several Country Music songs. Some of the artists are Katie Armiger, Whiskey Falls and Rissi Palmer. Check em out and let me know what you think of the songs.
Speaking of Country Music songs... Arista Nashville isn't wasting much time. While "Letter to Me" is at #1 on the singles chart, Brad is now releasing "I'm Still a Guy". Cute song and definitely a good choice for a single, although I'd love to see "Mr. PoliceMan" released at some point. I can just see the video now.
Well, I guess that's about all for now, Country Music fans. Enjoy the songs and see y'all next time!!
Here's a little update on the Dolly Parton tour situation I mentioned the other day. She may have had to change the dates, but she's still going out there. Good for her.
Speaking of Country Music singers who are gonna be busy... Looks like Carrie Underwood just might have been bitten by the acting bug. I can definitely see her doing this, although I would love to see Miranda try her hand at this too. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. Carrie's still got her tour with Keith Urban going on along with a Solo tour.
Well, that's about it for now. Take care and see y'all next time.
Turns out, there is not much to chat about! The Top 10 is nearly identical to last week, except for one position...
#8 Carrie Underwood, Some Hearts. This surprising return to the top ten (will this album ever die?? lol) is no doubt a result of her performance on the Grammys the other night. Go Carrie! Let's see what happens with Carnival Ride now since "All-American Gir"l is riding high on the charts.
I just get a kick out of Dolly. Check out this GAC news story about her tour postponement. In typical Dolly fashion, she sees the humor in the situation and pokes fun at her own image at the same time. Now, this is how to handle yourself. Newcomers, take note!
As if the music isn't enough, here is another reason to like Brad Paisley. I've heard of the disease the kids in this camp have and it sounds terrible. It's great that there are places out there like this that help the kids have fun even if they can't run and play in the daylight. Also, check out the quotes they include from him regarding 5th Gear. Really cool stuff.
Isn't Taylor Swift busy enough these days? Apparently not. I've seen a little clip of this video and it looks pretty cool so far. When you go to the link, go to the video airtimes section to see when her "I'm Only Me When I'm With You" video will be airing. I can't help thinking this one may just take off and hinder "Picture to Burn" on the charts. We'll see...
Well, that's all for now. See y'all next time. Til then, stay safe and "play something country!"
Hello, Country Music fans! Who saw Carrie Underwood's performance last night at the Grammys? I was pleasantly surpised by her renditions of "Before He Cheats". I'd seen it so many times on awards shows and other events, so when I heard she'd be doing that I was less than thrilled. She surprised me by changing up the number quite a bit. It started real slow and jazzy at first with a bunch of dancers with rods in the hands making the music to go along with it. Then the band kicked in and Carrie sang it differently than she usually does. She added a few riffs and runs and sang the end part differently as well. if she couldn't do a new song, this was the next best thing.
As for the categories, I was glad to see Brad Paisley won for best Instrumental and Carrie for "Before He Cheats". For a full list of winners, check here. I would've liked to see LeAnn win, but I can't really complain about the awards. I think they were pretty fairly given for the most part.
So, did your picks win or were you way off base? Let me know! Let's get a discussion going :) Well, I'm out of here for now. Til next time, take care and "play something country!"
Once again, there is not a major change high in the chart. Here's a quick rundown of where your favorite Country Music singers stand this week on Billboard.
Reba manages to get back into the top ten this week (#10), while Kenny Chesney moves up one to #9. Willie Nelson makes a return to the Country Music charts at #8 with his CD Moments of Forever. Robert Plant and Alison Krauss better keep working on that treadmill thing from their "Gone, Gone, Gone" video, cause their slipping in the charts. They moved down to #7 this week. Carrie Underwood holds on the the #6 spot for another week... looks like "All-American Girl" may be helping the keep it from falling like so many others are doing right now. Rascal Flatts moved up a few spots to take #5 this week. Meanwhile, the Eagles, Sugarland, Garth Brooks and Taylor Swift stay at numbers 4-1, respectively. Can anyone stop the new teen queen of Nashville? Tune in next time to find out....
Well, Country Music fans...it's official. According to a report on the Country Weekly website, The Wreckers are no more. Rumors were running wild this was going to happen after they announced they were doing solo projects and didn't give any firm plans to get back together. This news is not exactly a shocker, but it's a shame to have it officially confirm. Ah, well. We always have Stand Still, Look Pretty.
Speaking of the Wreckers, Jessica got married. Congrats to her! In honor of the Wreckers headlines today, I'd like to hear your favorite songs off their CD. Feel free to share your favorites in the comments here.
Good morning, Country Music fans!! I was browsing the GAC site today and was surprised to learn that Loretta Lynn has her own Zip code. I guess nothing says "I made it" more than the US postal service having to pay you rent!
Speaking of making it.... Carrie Underwood's made history (again)! Can't say it doesn't deserve the sales it achieved. It's one of the strongest songs of her debut and definitely became "her" song. This is one country music song I don't expect to see get covered any time soon. At least, not professionally.
Finally... let's talk about Martina a minute. Yet again, there's a story on GAC about how Martina never set out to be a "message singer". Don't get me wrong; I love me some Martina and think she's one of the strongest singers out there. I just think that it's about time for her to either stop releasing these types of songs for awhile or stop talking about it already. Seriously.
